Functional User Equivalent (FUE).  A Blended Value that sets the Number of Users that Will Access the SAP Cloud ERP Service.

Rather than have Multiple User License Types that are Managed Independently, the FUE is a Blended Aggragate Number.  Only the Total Matters.  The Individual Components are NOT Part of the Contract and can Vary Over Time.  If the Aggragate is Still Correct, You are Good.

What Makes up the Aggragate?

  • Advanced Users – These are Heavy Users of SAP.  If you are a Finance / Procurement User, You’re Advanced.  Advance Users Translate 1 to 1 to FUE’s.
  • Developers –  This is the IT Devlopment Staff.  Developer Users Translate 1 to 2 to FUE’s (yes, they are double).
  • Core Users – These are Medium Users.  The Order to Cash / Sales Users are the biggest group here. Core Users translate 5 to 1 to FUE’s (divide by 5).
  • Self Service Users – These are Light Users.  Typically, Users that Run Reports or Approve Workflows.  Also Warehouse functions.  Self Server translates 30 to 1 (divide by 30).
  • Engine Users – These are not Talked About.  Users that Only use an SAP Engine (Payroll for example).  These are Excluded from the FUE Calculations.  For Example:  Users that only Check Pay Stubs, or Payroll Department users that only use Payroll Functions.  This is departure from On Premise Rules, you bought the engine and then also bought the user license.  To calculate this user, multiply by zero (0).
